Who is this B.J. Ehrlich with messed up files?
Here is my story:
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Business, a move to Florida (and back home, to Kentucky), many years of soul searching, lots of family encouragement, years of starring at the graduate application for a Masters in Teaching (literally... four), and many prayers... I found the courage (from whatever was holding me back) to apply for a teaching program. BEST. DECISION. EVER.
I received a call on my last day of student teaching for a job interview at an elementary school in my hometown. I interviewed four days later. The following day, December 19th, I accepted a position to teach fifth grade. BEST. DAY. EVER.
My roller coaster of excitement has encouraged me to start this blog for my fellow teacher friends (near and far) and those I'll never meet. I hope to create a site much like the one I am constantly looking for, but can never find. Keep in mind, I'm new to the teaching game. I'm still treading water and reaching for support from any avenue I can find.
My classroom is my second home; therefore, it should feel like home. Come to think of it, it is a second home to my students as well. I want my room to feel inviting and safe. I want the learning environment to be appropriate for my students, yet creative and exhilarating (I've got some work on this one). I believe I am much like many of you... my creative instincts consume my thinking and once started, I won't stop until finished. I hope to share the fun in my classroom and the reality... you know, the lesson planning, execution, instructional practice and assessment... let's get to it!
